Father's Day Page Sketch Challenge

Sometimes we get a little bored working with our Counterfeit Kit all month long.  So we decided to let our Master Forgers take turns creating their own page kits, choosing a sketch, and putting a layout together for you to scraplift!

This month it's Crystal turn.  We asked her if she would create a Father's Day layout.

Crystal put together this page kit
The page kit contains:
1 piece of cardstock
4 pieces of coordinating patterned paper
1 set of black embellishment stickers
1 set of black alpha stickers
1 set of blue alpha stickers (not pictured)
1 set of "fishing" stickers
a "Father's Day" Cricut cartridge
1 journaling card
1 paper "ruler" embellishment
brown pen and ink
Crystal choose Sketch 377 from Scrapbook's Etc.com

Crystal created this layout!  Super cute!!!
For more details about Crystal's layout...see her blog at http://crystalscraftycreations.blogspot.com/.  I hope you enjoyed the change of pace!

Mini Challenge #2: All about the "I"

I love to check out our Design Team's blogs.  They always have such fun ideas and are also just an exceptional group of women and deisgners!  One of our designers, Susanne from Snaps and Snippets, had a particularly good idea on her blog that I am anxious to do...and want YOU to do it with me!

The "I's" Have It

Here is the link to the FREE Big Picture Scrapbooking All About Me Class .

So here is our BLOG HOP CHALLENGE:

Make a page or mini album all about You with at least one "I" statement on it. But don't share it with us yet!  I like to be surprised!

Blog Hop Details:
Create your assigned project and take a photo of it.

You have until the 25th to e-mail me at counterfeitkitchallenge@yahoo.com with BLOG HOP in the heading.  In your e-mail, please give me the LINK TO YOUR BLOG and be ready to publish a post with your challenge on the 28th (12:01 AM Eastern Time) for the hop

We will put together a list of all participating blogs and will e-mail everyone the order of the blog hop and how to do their post!

Summer Add on Sketch Challenge

Now for a little something we decided to add to the Counterfeit Kit Challenge (in addition to the 3 mini challenges we do every month)...

This month one of our Master Forgers, Kim, created her own "summer add on kit" to coordinate with the main kit.

Kim's "summer add on kit"

Next, Kim choose a sketch.  To see the sketch she choose, click on this web page from Page Maps (she choose the very last sketch on the bottom right).

Then Kim created this layout using her "summer add on kit".

For more of Kim's work, please visit her blog at http://lovejoyscrap.blogspot.com/

You can link your "Summer Sketch Layout" to this month's Mister Linky, found here.

Mini Challenge #1: Ad Inspiration

Ah, ads...those things that you flip past, turn the channel on and try not to let get into the way of your reading/television enjoyment.  I have to say the only ads I really pay attention to in my magazines is the scrapbook ones, and even those have to be pretty fantastic for me to notice them!  And as for TV ads?  Those are great times to get a drink or go to the bathroom, don't you think?

Mini Challenge #1:  Ad Challenge
Find an ad from a magazine, television, newspaper, ect. and use it to inspire a project!  (Hint:  if you have a favorite brand/company, you can google their name plus ads and it will bring up pictures for you to see.)

June 2011 Mister Linky Part 2

Here is the Mister Linky for ALL of the links for the second part of June 2011...whether you are linking a picture of your kit, a mini challenge, or anything else you have created, link it here.  There is a "quick link" to this Mister Linky on the top right side bar of the blog as well.

In order to make this Mister Linky a little easier to *understand* with so many different types of links in it...in the "name" field below, type your name and either the word "kit", "mini challenge", or "other" according to what you are linking.  Hopefully that will keep it a little organized!!!

Tutorial-DIY Patterned Paper

American Craft's-Hello Sunshine, Fluttery, 12x12 Paper
This month's kit contained a piece of patterned paper by American Crafts, Hello Sunshine line.  Simple enough to re-create with doily stamps...

Ink and Doily Stamp
Step 1: Choose about 5 different colors of ink you would like to use.
Step 2: Choose the doily stamp you would like to use and a sheet of Kraft cardstock.
Step 3: Randomly stamp your image on your paper (I used chalk inks, so they would show up on the Kraft paper)

DIY Patterned Paper

"Digital" Variation:

Step 1: Use doily images from the Internet.  (see this post for a list of places to find doily images on-line)
Step 2: Copy and paste them randomly either in a Photoshop, Microsoft Word, or PowerPoint document
Step 3: Change the color of the doilies to suit your color scheme (to do this in PowerPoint follow these steps...insert the picture of the doily, select it, go to the format tab, go to the "color" drop down menu, choose "recolor", and click on the desired color)
Step 4: Print on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper

Tutorial-Coloring Brads to Coordinate

In this month's kit there is a bunch of colored brads...just plain old colored brads.  So simple, but a wonderful and versatile embellishment!  Here are two different ways to color your brads to match your layout...a great way to use what you've got, rather than buying more!

Tutorial-Counterfeit Baker's Twine

Jilli Bean Soup Baker's Twine
I LOVE baker's twine.  I REALLY want to order one of those great multi-color packs from etsy.com.  But I need to make a serious dent in my current stash of ribbons and fibers first.   Here are a few ideas for making your own Baker's Twine (for those of us trying to use what we have)...
